Elgin City Football Club confirm that our goalkeeping coach, Gordon Milne will depart the club to take up a full-time position at a Scottish Premiership Club.
Gordon arrived at the club in July 2024 and has played a pivotal role in the development of our goalkeepers throughout his time at the club.
First Team Manager Stefan Laird said;
“We wish Gordon well in his new venture that he has to take up for his family. I have worked with Gordon for many years and count him as a close friend. All the staff and players wish him the absolute best and he will be missed. It is a reality of part time football that people sometimes have to move on but we now look forward to offering a new opportunity to a new member of the team”
We are now accepting applications for the role, which will be advertised via the clubs LinkedIn page.
Gordon on his departure – “It is with a heavy heart that my time at Elgin City comes to an end. It has been the most enjoyable, challenging and emotional 2 years of my footballing life. The club, supporters and town of Elgin have left an indelible in print upon the heart of both me and my family.
Leading such an incredible GK group – Tam, Tom, Aidan & Cole – has been a real privilege. I have no doubt that the club is in secure and able hands with Stefan, Thoirs & Connor. They are the best group of coaches I’ve ever had the luck in being associated with.
I want to thank the chairman, for giving me the opportunity and being supportive and understanding throughout, the board, for all the unsung work and effort that goes into running a club, and the staff, for always making me feel welcome, included and part of something special (especially G)
It has been an honour to represent your club and leaving it is not something I have taken lightly.”
